The experienced climbers saw the storm coming and were moving toward a more sheltered location when they were struck. A third climber was stunned but not injured, and climbed down for help.

However, 4 miles to the south in Miller Creek, the winds lifted a mobile home off its foundation and destroyed the structure. A roof was torn off another home and onto another. causing heavy damage. A horse was killed by flying debris.

The airport was closed after a wind gust caused the landing gear to collapse on a taxiing plane. There were no injuries. Other damage in the area included a blown-off roof, a blown-out window at Dixie college, and a business sign being torn off and damaging a nearby car.
