    A strong wind gust associated with a passing cold front resulted in a semi truck blow over on I-15, which resulted in another car being pinned. Wind speeds were estimated using nearby stations, generally ranging from 35-55mph at the time of occurrence. The truck driver was reported to have sustained minor injuries.

    Snow Squall. Numerous mesonet sensors across eastern Millard County reported snow squall conditions, including heavy snow, and wind gusts between 30 to 40 mph.

    Utah Highway Patrol reported numerous traffic accidents on I-15 between approximately the Nephi exit and roughly two miles northward. The volume of accidents resulted in the southbound lanes of I-15 being closed and traffic being detoured through the city itself. The winter weather is assumed to be the likely cause of the incident.

    The Nephi West mesonet site measured the first wind gust exceeding high wind criteria, with an initial high wind gust of 59 mph observed 3/2 at 11:20 am MST. The Nephi West mesonet site also measured the last wind gust exceeding high wind criteria, with a final high wind gust of 58 mph observed 3/2 at 4:10 pm MST.     Snow Squall. The I-15 at MP 215 Lampson Canyon mesonet site reported a period of heavy precip (snow) and gusts around 30 mph with visibility down to a minimum of approximately 0.29 miles.

    Interstate 15 was closed in both directions for portions of Wednesday morning at Nephi due to accidents. A snowfall accumulation of 11.0 inches with 0.61 inches of snow water equivalent was observed at Fillmore.

    Thunderstorm outflow winds generated blowing dust with near zero visibility along Interstate 15 near milepost 152 south of Fillmore. This resulted in a multi vehicle pileup with at least 22 vehicles involved, 8 fatalities, and 10 injuries. The nearest mesonet site located 7 miles south of the crash site recorded a wind gust to 32 mph around the time of the crash, at approximately 430 PM MDT.

Locations are NOAA's own county and National Weather Service forecast-zone names, which is why you will see both Salt Lake and Wasatch Mountains South of I-80. A storm not listed here was not necessarily absent β€” it means NOAA has no recorded report for it, which is common for isolated hail.
